When it comes to social media, dropping trendy buzzwords can be fun – but using the wrong ones can hurt your narrative quicker than you can hit edit.
There’s a lot of no-no’s out there, but today I’d like to focus on a list of feminized buzzwords that could do us all a favour and just ride off into the night.
Because let’s be honest, I’m about as tired of hearing ‘Boss Babe’ as June (in the Handmaid’s Tale) is of saying ‘Blessed be the fruit.’
The need to call out our ‘girl-ness’ and ‘boss-ness’ is completely unnecessary. Men don’t say, ‘Boy Boss’ or ‘Bro Boss,’ so why should we?
By adding female pronouns to certain words, it suggests we’re trying to steal ownership from men – that words like ‘boss’ belong to them, when really, they don’t belong to ANYone…
I’ve worked hard to get where I am today and don’t feel the need to qualify my success with a feminized label. Instead, I let my skills speak for themselves and focus on being a good ‘Boss.’
Here’s a check list of feminized words to AVOID:
- Girl boss
- Boss babe
- She boss
- Womxn
- Ladypreneurs
- Lady boss / boss lady
- Fempire
- SHEO / she-E-O
- Womanpreneur
- Fempreneur
- Mompreneur
- Shero / sheroes
- Momager
